Please note that school re-opens to students on Wednesday 3 January 2018 and this will be timetable week 1. Students need to report to their tutor bases for registration at the usual time of 8.40am.
As in previous years, on the morning of the last day of term students will have a celebration assembly with their year group, and take part in activities arranged by their Head of Year.
The school day will finish at 1.10pm and students will be permitted to leave. At present, school buses will be operating their normal timetable with the exception of the 360 Harpurs service to Bargate, Parks Estate, Three Gates and Milford, which will leave at 1.15pm from the bus stop opposite the Leisure Centre.
For those students unable to leave early there will be supervised activities until the normal end of the school day at 3.00pm.
Please note that school will be open as normal from tomorrow, Tuesday 12 December 2017, reverting back to the usual start time of 8.40am.
The Year 10 Graphic Art trip scheduled for Tuesday 12 December 2017 will be going ahead as planned.
School will be open today but will open late to enable the site to be cleared and for safer and longer journeys in. Students should arrive for a 9.30am start and report to tutor bases. There will be a staff briefing for all staff at 9.15am in the hall. Any students that arrive on buses that manage to get in for the normal school start time should gather in the Cold Food Area where they will be supervised. The History trip to Leeds today has been cancelled.
Please note that a final decision regarding whether school is open or closed tomorrow will be taken in the morning once the site, school transport links and local routes in to school have been assessed.
We would therefore ask parents/carers to check the website or school Twitter account tomorrow morning for an update which will be posted at approximately 7.00am.
Due to the adverse weather forecast for this weekend, please be aware that we will monitor the situation and post school opening/closure information both here on the website and on our school Twitter feed, http://twitter.com/belperschool, at approximately 7.00pm on Sunday 10 December, with a further update at approximately 7.00am on Monday 11 December.
This will also include updates regarding the History trip scheduled for Monday.
With adverse weather conditions forecast for the weekend, we would ask parents/carers to familiarise themselves with our School Emergency Closure Procedure. Please click here for further information.
You can also sign up to receive emails from the Derbyshire County Council School Closures service. This service will send you an email to notify you when any schools in the area are closed. For further information click here to go to their website.
A reminder that we will be holding an information event for parent and carers in the school at 6.00pm on Thursday 7 December (the same evening as Year 12 Parents Evening) to give you the opportunity to discover a little more about how we use Google Classroom and GMail in school and how this information can be shared effectively you. It is hoped that this event will also give us the opportunity to gain feedback on your experiences with the system and give you the opportunity to ask questions related to its use.
To assist with planning for the evening, could you please complete the online form using the following link – https://goo.gl/HkhQy6 – to let us know you wish to attend.
Whilst we will not discourage students from attending, this is primarily an information sharing event aimed at parents and carers.
Details of these sessions can be found on the Science Faculty page on our website.
