Talk Fostering at Belper School and Sixth Form Centre

There is a real need for new foster carers in Derbyshire and we’re very pleased to be able to help by hosting one of a series of Derbyshire County Council’s Talk Fostering recruitment events . Current foster carers and the council’s fostering recruitment team will be on hand  between 5-7pm on Monday 17 September 2018 to talk about the benefits of fostering, as well as the process of becoming an approved foster carer and the support carers and children are entitled to.

Anyone aged over 21 can foster. You can be a home owner or live in rented accommodation, working or not. You can be married, living with a partner, in a same-sex relationship or single,  already have children or not.

If you’d like to know more about fostering ahead of the event, please go online at

If you aren’t able to attend the event in school but are interested in fostering, the website also has details of other upcoming Talk Fostering events in county.

GCSE and A Level results news

A Level Results
A huge well done to the Year 13 students at the school who performed superbly well in the recent A Level exams.  There have been big increases on the previous year’s results with students and faculties both achieving strong outcomes.  Congratulations are well in order for all those students who stepped up to the plate!  We wish them all the best for the next stage of their career.
A cracking effort from the Y11 students who have posted some excellent results and set some records in the process!  Their hard work and determination certainly paid off and they should be really proud of their achievements.  Performing as well as they did on the new more difficult courses with the new assessment framework is truly brilliant.  We salute you!

Information for parents/carers

Unfortunately, parents of around 15 students have contacted school today to report that their children have shown symptoms of sickness, and a small number of students (4) and two members of staff attending school have shown similar symptoms and have been sent home as a precaution. As a result, the school has sought advice from Public Health England, which recommends the following action: if your child is feeling unwell and is vomiting, please contact your GP in the first instance. If you are unable to contact your GP, Public Health England can be contacted on 03442 254 524. Please quote reference number 631160. We are unable at this time to clearly identify the possible source or cause.

We very much hope those who are feeling unwell do make a swift recovery and are able to enjoy their summer break.

Arrangements for the last day of term – Friday 20 July 2018

As in previous years, on the morning of the last day of term students will have a celebration assembly with their year group, and take part in activities arranged by their Head of Year.

The school day will finish at 1.10pm and students will be permitted to leave.  School buses will be operating to their normal timetable as follows …

1507 service 143 to Ambergate, Bull Bridge, Lower Hartsay and Ripley
1511 service 142 to Ambergate, Bull Bridge and Crich

1515 service 113 to Belper Triangle, Belper Lane End and Hazelwood Church

however, please note that THERE WILL BE NO SERVICE 360 (Harpur’s Coaches) to Openwoodgate, Bargate, Park’s Estate and Milford so students will need to make alternative arrangements to get home.

For those students unable to leave early, there will be supervised activities until the normal end of the school day at 3.00pm.  These students should report to A6 immediately following afternoon registration.

Arrangements for the students’ first day back in September (Wednesday 5 September) are being finalised and will be posted here when available.
