Belper School’s runners, representing Amber Valley, turned in some impressive performances at this year’s County Championships at Moorways on Saturday 21 January 2017.  All had qualified by virtue of their impressive performances at the District Championships back in the autumn.

Seasoned runners Tamsin McGraw and Sam Moakes finished second and fourth respectively in the sixth form races and will progress to represent Derbyshire at the National Championships in Norwich this March.  Lower down the age groups, there were more great performances with Maddie Tatham and Oliver Boulton-Smith from year 7 and Jonathan Howkins from year 9 all being the first runners home for Amber Valley in their respective races.

Maddie Tatham 12th, Katie Potts 40th, Faith Clarke 48th and Jocelyn Johnson 64th in the year 7 girls’ race of 82 competitors.

Oliver Boulton-Smith 31st, Elliott Lawrence 57th and Ben Ollett 61st among 80 runners in the year 7 race.

Jonathan Howkins 20th and Hamish McHarg-Roddis 57th among 82 year 8/9 boys.
