Year 9 and 11 student vaccinations – March 2017

The School Age Immunisation Team will be visiting school in March 2017 to deliver Teenage Booster (Tetanus, Diptheria & Polio) and Meningitis ACWY vaccinations to Year 9 and Year 11 students.   The vaccination date for Year 9 students is Thursday 2 March 2017, and the date for Year 11 students is Thursday 23 March 2017.

Further information and a consent form is being given to Year 9 and 11 students on Monday 9 January 2017 for them to take home to parents/carers.  We would ask parents/carers to read the form carefully, complete this and return it to the School Office as soon as possible and by no later than Friday 13 January 2017.

Please be aware that parents/carers still need to complete the form even if they do not wish their son/daughter to receive these vaccinations.  In addition, please note that failure to return the form will not be taken to mean refusal, and your child may then be immunised after giving their own consent, if deemed competent.

If you have any specific queries, you can contact the School Age Immunisation Team direct on 01283 707170 option 3.

If your son/daughter does not bring the information and consent form home, please contact the School Office on 01773 825281.  Year 9 and 11 students who are away from school on Monday 9 January 2017 will have the information and consent form posted home to their parents/carers.

These are the only vaccinations scheduled at present.  HPV initial and booster vaccinations for female students (which protects against cervical cancer) will be next on the programme, and are expected to be scheduled at some point during the Summer term.  We will notify students and parents as soon as we have any further information.
