Sixth Form Admissions
What subjects do we offer?
Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to nurture individual interests and inspire a passion for learning, providing a solid foundation for university studies and the world of work.
The subjects we offer can be found here: https://www.belperschool.co.uk/sixth-form/subjects/
Subject Choices
Students choose to study three subjects in the first year, which are examined internally at the end of Year 12, and then proceed to the full Advanced level in three courses in Year 13. If appropriate, a student can opt for a fourth subject in Year 12 if this includes the addition of either Further or Core Mathematics.
All students that have not achieved a grade 4 or better in English and / or Mathematics will have to resit the subjects and be entered for examination in line with Government legislation.
Whatever the combination of subjects you choose, the emphasis is on personal endeavour, intellectual curiosity and preparation for life beyond Belper School.
Choosing your A-level (or equivalent) subjects carefully is really important – especially if you have aspirations to study at a leading university. The Russell Group’s guide, Informed Choices, includes advice from admissions professionals on the best subject combinations for a wide range of university courses as well as the best choices for students who want to keep their options open.

How to apply to the Sixth Form ?
All applicants will be required to complete an online application form by 5 December 2025.
Internal applicants will be emailed their Applicaa Admissions+ logon details to begin the application process.
External applicants should start a new application via Applicaa Admissions+ using the following link – Sixth Form Application for Belper School.
Internal students will have an interview with a member of the Sixth Form Team in December. External students will be interviewed in January. The interviews will be a positive and friendly experience and a chance for students to let us know a little bit more about themselves and raise any issues they may have. We will be able to give a conditional offer after the interview; however, final confirmation of a place will be given after GCSE results are issued and entry criteria is met. Applications after this date are still possible but may have an impact on the availability of courses.
If you have any other general questions about the Sixth Form please contact us at sixthform@belperschool.co.uk .
Admissions Criteria
Belper School has re-assessed its entry requirements to Level 3 courses offered by our Sixth Form Centre in light of the publication of new and more challenging Level 3 courses. The entry requirements are available from the link above. Any queries regarding this should be directed to the Sixth Form Team at the school in the first instance.
In addition when considering your application we shall look carefully at all of the following factors:
● The recommendation you have from the school / your previous school / college and subject teachers.
● The contribution you are likely to make to the life of the Sixth Form and your embodiment of the school ethos.
