Belper School has a well established Inclusion area, ‘ACCESS’ meeting a range of individual student needs. Identified students can engage in an appropriate alternative curriculum. Internal provision includes Princes’ Trust and Land Based Studies as well as the opportunity to gain confidence and remain up to date with work in other curriculum areas with increased support. ACCESS students can attend external provision part time and the Inclusion team have close links with ACORN College and Derby College.
The Inclusion team support student wellbeing. There is a small ACCESS tutor group with breakfast provision and increased staff levels at the start of the day. Students are supported integrating in to lessons to optimise engagement and success. They have 1:1 input with key staff to meet emotional needs and also 1:1 behaviour support is provided as appropriate.
